World of Make Believe

The following is a simple list of every short story that I have written throughout my writing career; with one or two works in progress listed. A brief summary of each short story follows the titles, which are italicised.

1. A Locket in the Ashes: The spirit of a girl must find rest before she can live in the eternal Heaven.
2. A Wish for Freedom: An ex-slave stares outside of the gates that keep her locked up dreaming of freedom.
3. Abaddon: A tale of part of the Apocalypse with Dante’s Cocytus thrown in.
4. Beautiful Stranger: A girl falls in love with her married physical therapist, only to have to deal with his wife in the end.
5. Beauty and the Stupid: Second political satire piece.
6. Before the Dawn: The title is based on an Evanescence song, Before the Dawn (how creative). It’s the story of a girl running away from home with her boyfriend because her father beats her.
7. Bloodstained Lies: A woman murders her husband after years of abuse.
8. Cutting-Edge Pretty: My first short story containing explicit sex. Involves a young girl named Rain, who lives on the streets. She is raped by her ex-boyfriend and then murdered.
9. Daddy’s Whispers: A young girl is forced to deal with her mother’s insanity after the untimely death of her father.
10. Deterioration Point: The ghost of a girl’s deceased boyfriend comes back to be with her, and she eventually returns the favor.
11. Everytime: A story about a five-year old girl, Lexi, and her twenty-one year old mother, Cathy. Cathy is worried about monsters in her home and the imaginary friends that Lexi seems to have acquired.
12. Forever Yours: A story set in the time of the Apocalyspe detailing the beginning of the Antichrist.
13. Illusions: A ghost and mortal love story, yet again. Deceased boyfriend and living girlfriend.
14. Just an Accident: The story of an abusive relationship and a woman in denial.
15. Loss of Innocence: A girl commits suicide on the grave of her newly-deceased boyfriend.
16. Midnight Dreams: A child dreams of freedom.
17. Of Hummingbirds and Gluttony: A story about a young bulimic girl and her struggles with binging and purging.
18. Presidential Worries: A political satire piece; the first one I have ever written.
19. Promises in Blood: A young girl deals with self-mutilation and suicide.
20. Rainy Day Reflections: A young mother reflects on the birth of her daughter and her daughter’s absentee father.
21. Snowflakes: A girl who despises Christmas finds love in both the season and in her boyfriend.
22. Soulless Angels: A short story in which Heaven is Hell and Hell is where all souls are sent upon meeting their Earthly death.
23. Sugarcoated Lemons: A woman dealing with a painful divorce finds love in another man, who happens to have the same name as her ex-husband.
24. Sweet Seduction: A girl who self-mutilates overdoses on Tylenol only to die in her boyfriend’s passionate embrace.
25. The Love of Another: A historical romance story; a betrothed girl is suddenly approached by her childhood sweetheart for a second chance.
26. The Thickness of a Butterfly’s Wing: A teenager struggling with anorexia and dealing with her conscience from all her lies.
27. Twisted Warfare: A psychologist finds true love in a sociopath whom she must decide the fate of: life in jail, or walking free.
28. Under the Weeping Willow: A small child finds a friend in the form of an angel under the willow tree in her yard.
29. When Murder Kills: Witnessing several gruesome murders drives a police detective to suicide.
30. Windows of the Soul: The story of a girl’s return to school after the death of her best friend
31. Without My Wings: (In progress) A young prostitute deals with an unexpected pregnancy and the resulting complications.
